List of Google placement categories

I wrote about it before, and I am still bullish on placement targeted campaigns on the Google content network. If you haven’t been keeping up on the placement world, you can now target by 4 ways:

  • Categories,
  • Topics (keywords)
  • URLs
  • Demographic groups

They have recently expanded their categories that you can target. There are now 28 main categories and 504 total categories available. Here are the lists of current categories:

The main category list

The full category list

Browsing through there, I’m sure you guys and gals can think of some creative ways to use these categories. ;)

Hint: Create ads for each sub placement grouping based on the group - keep it relevant just keyword targeting.

Darrin, just look at the categories and think of what kind of offer would appeal to that group, then target it based on that. Keep each group of ads specific to that sub group. The possibilities are endless. Just be sure to bid enough to get impressions, if you bid too low nothing will show.
