You probably received the emails from Google about their Adwords seminars. If you are starting out in PPC, I would recommend going to one of these event. Here are the benefits I can see:
- Its relatively cheap – $250 for a 1 day class
- You get Adwords credits and goodies.
- You can write off the class as a business expense
- Good chance to network with people in your area.
- Unlike a conference, you might actually learn something because you won’t be drunk the whole time.
I have not personally been to one of these, but I am considering the Advanced class when it comes to my city later this month. I would like to learn more about the API, which is one of the topics for that session.
Has anyone ever gone to one of these events?

I’ve been to one of those events. It was held by Brad Geddes from ewhisper.net. It was informative, but nothing ground breaking. Networking (at least when I went) was limited. The problem is that you have people with no knowledge whatsoever book the advanced class and hold things back. If you are out for some swag – the 128 MB USB Stick with the presentation files on it did not really impress anyone
Thanks for that insight. Doesn’t sound like it would be worth my time.

That’s funny Chad
That’s interesting, Christoph… Brad is one of the top minds on PPC I’ve come across…perhaps he was holding back for reasons you mentioned…
Closest to me will be Columbus in October; even then it’s a 5-1/2 hour drive. Doesn’t sound like it’ll be worth all that time & effort based on what Christoph says.
Good find, I’m sure some people will be interested in this.
I haven’t been to any of these for google adwords specifically but I attended one given by MSN Adcenter a little while back and there were way too many clueless people attending them for the presenter to get into anything advanced that would have made it worth my time. What guy had to ask the presenter what an “impression” was if you can believe that.
