Mentor for a week contest

I have been wanting to give something back to my readers lately. Rather than giving away some t-shirt or mug, I thought the most valuable thing I can give my time. Here is what I am offering:

I will mentor your for a week for free. I will spend 15-20 minutes a day for a week to help someone get started in PPC to affiliate marketing.

Here are some of the things I will help the winner with:

  • Selecting a test offer
  • Evaluating the offer and niche
  • Choosing a network to run the offer
  • Choosing the best PPC source to test
  • Keyword research
  • Campaign structure planning
  • Breaking up keywords into adgroups
  • Writing ad copy
  • Setting up split tests
  • Determining the best bid prices
  • Landing page analysis
  • Setting up tracking on landing pages
  • Analyzing test results

Now, I won’t be doing all the work. That is up to you. But I will do what I can to get you started and advise you every step of the way. What you get out of it will depend on the effort you choose to put in. All I ask is that you are sincere in your desire to learn, and that you are flexible with your expectations. This won’t be a formal session at the same time every day, but will have to fall when I have a few minutes to spend with you.

Want to enter?

Its simple

1. Contest is open to subscribers only, so if you haven’t already - subscribe to my feed.

2. Reply to this post with a comment of 2-3 sentences about why you would like some help getting started in PPC-affiliate marketing. Please don’t write a book, just 2-3 sentences.

How will the winner be picked?

It will not be a random draw. I will pick the winner by my favorite reply. I will pick the winner 1 week from today on April 30th.

Rules and Disclaimer:

I make no promises about any amount of money you will make as a result of this, but I’ll do my best to help.

Please don’t enter if you are already making good money. I want to help a rookie get started.

I may ask you to keep certain techniques confidential, if so please be prepared to honor that request.

I’ve made an attempt to promote a few different offers in the past year, and have “succeeded” with only 3 (by success, I mean not losing money). Of those, I seem to hit a wall and I cannot get more (profitable) traffic to the offer, so I plateau at about $25 - $35 / day average profit. I would hope to find a mentor that would show me how to pick profitable offers (more often than I have been able to), how to pick those which can explode with traffic, and how to do the keyword research to get there.

Thank you, Eric

Why should you mentor me? Because I will not waste your time. I only have one successful campaign running right now but I want to have 10. I’m setting up a corporation and hiring an accountant. And because I follow you on Twitter. ;-)

Thanks for the offer. I’d like to get ramped up in PPC marketing so when my wife gets knocked up (hopefully not anytime soon) I can buy time to be with my family. I’ve tooled around with PPC for about 4 months, so I have some background.

Thanks,

Chad - Great idea! A good buddy of mine and I have been blogging for awhile now and are about to start trying to learn the ins-and-outs of PPC affiliate marketing, so the timing of your offer is perfect. We’re launching a blog at www.affiliatebynight.com to chronicle our efforts to begin making at least a part-time income (we’re hoping to be honest and down-to-earth with our blog - rather than shooting for a pie in the sky income) from affiliate marketing soon, too, so it would coincide perfectly. Thanks for the offer and all the helpful posts.

Cheers!

I’m a new reader and just subscribed to your blog. Thank you for the gracious offer. I would like for you to mentor me as I am new the entire Aff Marketing process. I don’t even have any campaigns running. I’ve signed up for a couple Affiliate Marketing company’s (NeverBlue, etc.) and have looked at the available offers, however I don’t know where to start. I’ve been reading as much as I can but there are still some things that are not fully clear to me.

And my wife is knocked up. Baby is due in October. lol…

I spent lots of time into Affiliate Marketing already but I just can’t flip the real coin. I’ve build a custom tracking system, tried a lot of offers but the best I had was 5$ + a day, not more. I’m missing something and I can’t figure out what.. I’m an experienced developer trying to score at affiliate marketing, until now, without success :o.

About me: I’m 21 and can take good advice and build on it. I’m officially done university this coming May 2nd. Experience: I’ve been making money on the net since 2005 with three big milestones: 1st/2nd, Sale of an entertainment website and a file hosting website; 3rd, Sports niche membership website (SEO). Why Me?: I slowed things down a lot, but I don’t want to let my experience go to waste so I’ve set things up such that I can start again in May. I really want to start with AM, but will need the help you’re willing to offer which I feel I can successfully build on.

Thanks,

Thank you for putting up this mentoring. I’d like to have your coaching because I am experiencing too much information overload. I just can’t put all the pieces of the puzzle together. I want to get started and from there expand from 1 profitable campaign to another.

Thanks again!

Hi Chad,

This is such a great idea. I think personal coaching from a successful coach is extremely more valuable than some generic prize. It goes along with that saying “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for a day. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.

Why choose me? I am a newbie. I’m a good listener and a fast learner. I’m not afraid to ask questions. I’m very motivated to build on online business so I can start working for myself. I’ve been reading/learning about making money online for the past year (i.e. Adsense/Adwords, Affiliate Marketing, Blogging, etc.). I am now ready to stop reading and start ACTING.

Please teach me to “Fish”.

Thanks for this great opportunity!

I walked into a meeting last week and the *pointy hair* boss began with “Gentlemen, we’re implementing a mandatory overtime work schedule until further notice.” Then he beat his chest describing how he *went to bat* for us. “I’ve decided to still allow you to submit vacation requests”. Oh really? I can still use the vacation time that is part of my benefit package? Geez..thanks. I could feel Scott Adams sketching up the scene. It was at that moment I firmly decided I would be gone and on my own by the end of 2008. I’d love to get inside Chad’s head for a week :-)

Great idea for a contest - and thanks for the tip Ruck. I’ve been subscribed to several feeds and read as much as I can for several months, but haven’t yet made the jump to actually running a campaign for fear of making too many mistakes. I have the money and inclination, and the advice and encouragement from a professional would tip me to actually starting a campaign.

Naturally I’d follow instruction precisely, and my success would be a testament to your experience.

Great idea for a contest - thanks for the tip Ruck! I’ve been subscribed to blogs for months, and read as much as I can. However, I’ve never actually started a campaign for fear of making too many (costly) mistakes. I have a couple of niches in mind that haven’t yet been exploited I believe, as well as some money to spend. Having the mentorship from a professional would definitely tip me toward running some campaigns, getting my feet wet, and hopefully making more money than I spend.

cheers.

I’ve been trying PPC since November last year, and have yo-yo’ed from slight success ($20 profit per day) to utter failure (losing $1,000 in testing then the network pulls the offer. This has happened twice in the last month.) It seems every time I take 2 steps forward, I get pushed 3 steps back, and it’s getting depressing.

Please help push me over the edge. I feel I’m almost there, and just need a mentor to nudge me in the right directions.

Hi Chad,

First off, I’d like to say that I think what you are doing is great and I have learned much from your blog posts.

About me - I’m 37 and haven’t really succeeded at anything in business. I’ll most likely be losing my job soon (layoffs) and affiliate marketing is all I really have left. I do love it, but I struggle greatly with pay-per-click. I do my research, pay to have landing pages created, build my kw lists… and then lose money every single time. I could really use your help.

Thanks

Working in PPC is the best opportunity for me to use some of the skills I have to enable the lifestyle I am aiming to achieve. Any help along the way would be a blessing. Hi Chad,

The coaching idea is awesome and really separates you from most other blogs I am reading.

I am trying to move into PPC/Affiliate marketing for a while now (frustrated to see the large up and downs of Adsense and depending on the mercy of Google), but seem to be stuck with what I am doing in PPC/Affiliate marketing. I’ve got cash I am willing to lose if it means to finally make some significant progress and I am dedicated to follow thru on advice coming from someone who knows his stuff inside out.

Thanks for your consideration.

Chad,

Thanks so much for this — time is the most precious thing any of us have so this offer says quite a bit.

Having already invested countless hours (and almost as many dollars) into this, I am completely determined to succeed at affiliate marketing via PPC. And while I may have a lot of “head knowledge” about the topic, unfortunately I haven’t been able to “put it all together” in a sustainable way. With your guidance, I am completely confident that I’ll be able to do so and am genuinely excited at the possible opportunity!

Thanks and regards,

Hey Chad,

You should mentor me because I’m not going to waste your time and just half listen to your advice, I have been doing affiliate marketing for about 3 months now and I’ve launched about 12 campaigns probably working around 40 hours a week on them and I just CAN’T seem to get ahead no matter how hard I try, I try and take all the advice offered by all the major blogs, including yours and just can’t seem to get things to work.It seems I’ve hit a road block, campaign after campaign keeps failing and barely turning a buck.(no I’m not going to quit, I will continue until I succeed and will NOT give up) and I just need someone to give me advice. I don’t want you to walk me thru how to everything and hold my hand, just someone to look over a few things and give me some tips. I really appreciate this opportunity thanks a lot!

Thanks for your offer to devote your time to one of the newbies! It’s nice to know that there are people out there who give back to community. I’ve done something similar before but not in the affiliate marketing field. The feeling of helping someone to get on his/her own feet is priceless.

Here is my short story:

I’ve gotten into affiliate marketing about 1 month ago. I’ve been running some blogs in past and used affiliate links on them but never got seriously into this business. Until recently. One week ago I’ve taken holidays from my day job and I’ve been using the time to work on my affiliate business. I’m really determined to succeed. I’m working 16 hours a day trying out different offers, setting up new campaigns on AdWords and Yahoo and building my landing pages.

I haven’t seen much success so far. I’m spending about $50/day and getting about $25 back. I guess it’s not that bad for a newbie but I want to start making at least 10% profit. Well, getting even would be a good start.

So that’s it. I could really use your help. A couple of minutes a day from an experienced affiliate marketer would be golden!

Affiliate marketing is what I want to do, plain and simple. Nothing else excites me quite like AM. I wake up thinking AM, I go to work thinking AM, I go to sleep thinking AM and I dream about AM. I’m still very new and have trouble finding good campaigns to run, not to mention the process of niche research (Saturated or not) keyword research, scaling etc. On top of all of this, I want to make my family’s(wife and son) life better, so I’m willing to put in as much time and effort as is required. Sorry this is so long, thanks!

Chad!

Here is my Unique Value Proposition :D

a) I’ve been working very hard in Aff Marketing since last november and the most I have gotten is a breakeven campaign, until I got google-slapped and had to start over.

b) I have been very persistant, almost every single day. Reading only the top 5 blogs, no ebooks or forums, just reliable information and above all learning through personal experience. However, the only offer I promoted that worked well looked a bit scammy from what I read in customer complaints, so I had to drop it to continue sleeping at night.

c) I do not expect anyone to hand me success without effort, but if you offer help I will humbly take it. I will prepare enormously for each short session we have and make the most out of it. I will resignup to any aff network through your links so my success is your investment! When I succeed, you will have someone loyal to you in business for life.

d) I was you a few years ago. I am young and feel my life draining away in the office. I want to give my all and break free. I will get it no matter what. Your guidance will NOT be taken for granted.

Thanks a lot Chad!

I assume the URLs I added to complete the adwords ad looking submission didnt work … here it is again. Note, all lines are within Google Adwords guidlines :P

I have lurked far too long on forums and blogs. 2 Months ago I decided to take action to give affiliate marketing a solid run to see what I’m capable of. A few failed campaigns later I feel that I have developed a general understanding of A.M fundamentals, but I could really use that “Oh I seeee!” moment.

Ideally, I could turnaround and help others who are also struggling! (keeping certain tidbits to myself, of course )

Anyway, thanks for the contest and good luck all!

Hey there Chad!

I have been following you for about 2 weeks and I am beyond ready to get started in ppc! I really don’t want to talk about some sob story about why to chose me for your coaching… matter of fact I had asked you in your questions area if you do coaching! I will not waste your time and I have nothing but time to devote to learn this industry, quitting my day job and provide for my moms…

Thanks,

Toki

I just wanted to comment (don’t want to particpate in the contest) and say cool idea for a contest. :) I am sure the lucky winner will gain a ton of good info.

Hey Chad,

You snowboard, I ski.
You ride a mountain bike, I ride a BMX bike.
You are a PPC Affiliate Jedi Master, I am committed to becoming a PPC Affiliate Jedi Knight.

With your guidance, training and mentorship, I hope to learn the true ways of PPC Affiliate Marketing. I look forward to this once in a life-time opportunity, and sincerely hope to be selected as the “Choosen One”.

Chad,

I would be honored to be chosen for your week-long mentoring program. After spending a week under your wing, I would hope to be able to stop banging my head against the wall while attempting to turn a profit with affiliate marketing. Not only would my head not hurt so much, but I wouldn’t have to go get a day job! :)

Thank you for this opportunity,

Regards,
Marshall

Seems like a shot in the dark, but i’ll take it:

To be frank, I would like to get started in PPC for the same reason most people would like to; revenue. I wouldn’t say that this is my sole purpose, though. The main intention comes from my innate desire in creating things on the Web to the best of my ability so that they’re helpful to others.

..and i’m 21 years old.

Later!

This isn’t for me… It’s for my husband. The email address I gave you is his. And yes he is subscribed to your blog :D He’s going to hate me for this… LOL

He has lost over $5000 being scammed online in the last year alone. He’s really trying hard to get his PPC business up and running wasting close to $500 a week on PPC alone. HELP HIM SO I CAN GO BACK TO SCHOOL!

I would like to start in affiliate marketing because I live in the USA, I make $7.15 an hour working in a plastic shop and my dream has always been to be a great affiliate marketer, I want to provide a better life for my wife and doughter, I already started building quality content sites but I have not done well with PPC.

The way that I have been learning about affiliate marketing is by downloading podcasts and listening to them at work (while I make plastic parts) 8 hours a day for the last 8 months.

This is for ME as well as for my mum. I would like to use the money that
I earned from Affiliate Marketing and do 2 things. Adopt an orphanage in Chiang Mai and setup a trust fund under my mum’s name. She passed away 3 yrs back.

Because I want to quit the rat race and spend more time with my kid(s). My second son will be born any day now 8) I already had one successful campaign but through google slappage it fizzled out. I am a very hard worker and very dedicated to making this work. Thank you.

I’ve been programming web apps for years, I even designed a few sites. Lately I have been reading a lot about PPC and I really want to give it a shot. I didn’t try any offers yet, but I promise that I will listen, I will work and I will TEST. I think if you pick me, it will be the best use of your time :)

Disregard my last comment, after reading some of the comments I realize there are more needy people here than me. I don’t have kids and a wife to support, I feel they are more in need of help than me since they have others to consider as opposed to me who only have to provide for myself. Sorry for wasting your time.

Chad,

This a great opportunity and something I know I would act on and give me (and those close to me) real benefit.
I live in the UK trying to work the UK affiliate market and I am proficient technically but am missing the piece that gels everything together. Your advice will pay dividends.

Hey Chad,

I’ve been hammering away at this game for a little bit now, and so far I haven’t managed to turn any sort of decent profit. Working with you would be invaluable, and whether I get that chance or not, 6 months from now I’ll be doing the same thing: busting my butt trying to make successful campaigns. The chance to work with you and learn from your experiences would be awesome, but either way, thanks for your blog, it’s been outstanding.

Why Mentor Pingo’s Affiliate Program?

Chad if you spend 20 mins a day for a week….

= You’ll be training an affiliagte manager to help future affiliates make it in this industry

= You’ll help 4 mba interns, learn your skills to help them launch a career in affiliate marketing

In return, we can help you build out a phone card affiliate site to test out your PPC skills as a future blog case study with yet another revenue stream to help you bike up another mountain of affiliate commissions.

3 reasons why your help matters to me.
1) the ability to help me buy an engagement ring for my lovely girlfriend
2) some cashflow to help fix up our house and
3) because I want…no, I NEED a change from what I am doing now.

Thanks for your consideration!
