New project

Hey guys, this isn’t related to affiliate marketing but I thought some of you might be interested in another project I’m involved with. Myself and 2 partners recently launched a new website called Last Gas Car. It’s all about electric cars, hybrids, hydrogen, biofuels, etc. Our goal is simple: to make it the largest alternative fuel vehicle site on the internet. Its a subject I am hugely into and the public interest is just exploding in electric vehicles right now. There are other sites in the niche of course, but none that really tie together the community like we are planning to do.

You might notice the site looks familiar to this one ;) We used this theme to get something up and running while we create a backlog of original content to be indexed. A custom theme is being designed and beta tested. We aren’t worrying about monetizing the site, more just about getting it out there. There are already a small number of enthusiastic readers and subscribers, but its still in “soft launch”.

So if you are interested in the coming revolution in cars like the Tesla or the Volt, stop on over an take a look!

Do you have plans to monetize it down the road, or just a hobby?

We may monetize when the user base grows large enough.

Not to criticize, but I’m not quite clear what makes the content on this site stand out from others in the niche…

You had mentioned community functionality, but is that going to be the emphasis of the site? It seems like currently it is focused on generic electric car news…

Any plans for offering up an ebook guide on buying electric cars or something along those lines?

Mike-
Most other sites focus on one particular car, or one type of car like hybrids, while being pure news site. We plan to tie it all together and make it a more user driven community. No plans for ebooks.

Right on, man. A good friend of mine owns two electric cars that he powers with his totally solar-driven house and a bunch of charging stations we have here in California. He’s always telling me how hard they are to get and about this website where people are waiting in line by the thousands to get one. I’m sure you’ve seen “Who Killed The Electric Car”. Pretty sobering movie. Nice work plowing your affiliate profits into doing something altruistic.

Thanks Tim. Thats great about your friend. I have always said if you had an electric car that you powered by your own solar, you are pretty much untouchable by any gas or power companies. 2010 is going to be the year when nearly all the EVs come out so I’ll wait till then to get mine. That is unless I go nuts and buy a Tesla before then!

We’ll be releasing a unit that easily attaches to any car and diesel truck here in about 8 weeks that creates hydrogen and increases your fuel efficiency by 40% on gas vehicles and over 50% on diesel vehicles!

We’ve been field testing this unit on fleet cars and trucks in California for the past year and a half, and the results are pretty amazing (nice option if you don’t want to have to go buy a brand new vehicle anyway).

Our first goal in marketing these will be to get an affiliate program running…stay tuned!
