Speculating on the million dollar wiki

Ok, I admit it. I got sucked in by yesterday’s hype on Shoemoney’s and John Chow’s blogs about the million dollar wiki page. The combined effect of those 2 posts led to the owner of the million dollar wiki site netting $15k in one day. Not bad at all.

I signed up for 3 pages in the paid wiki. 2 that I am sending directly to affiliate offers, and 1 to promote the blog you are reading now. The cost was $300 for the 3 pages, which I hope to be able to recoup from the affiliate offers. These kinds of spends are risky because all of the payment is upfront, unlike PPC which you pay as you go. We will see if my money was wasted or if this speculative type of promotion turns out to be worth it. I’ll be sure to post a follow up in a couple weeks.

Here’s a link to the CDF Networks page for the term “super affiliate

Cool! So is a ’super affiliate’ making $10k a month net or gross?

I got sucked in too. I’m just hoping a ton of others keep getting sucked in so people see our pages!

If you take some time to put a little design work into it, you’ll get on the main page and it is worth the time. Check out how TechJuicer or the Hotel pages promote their website or blog.

Right now your page comes off as a giant ad – so making it more intriging will get people to poke around and help your chances of landing on the MainPage. (if you do update – post on the forums to announce – and it is easier for graham to hear about your page). That’s how I make sure my clients make the front page – good design and making sure graham knows about the updates.

Also, on your , create a last line that goes:

desc none

this will get rid of that random white pixel on your header/ad image.

Thanks Matthew! I’ll put a little more work into the page.

[...] As promised here are the results from my million dollar wiki speculation. I foolishly bought 3 pages on the wiki after the tremendous hype a few weeks ago. One of the terms was “super affiliate” which I pointed to this blog. So for my investment of $90 (I used a $10 coupon code at least) I have received exactly 7 clicks. Yes, that’s a CPC of $12.85 per click. Probably the most expensive clicks I have ever bought. If you resisted the hype and didn’t buy a page, consider yourself lucky. var bz_url=’http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cdfnetworks.com%2Fwasted-money-on-the-million-dollar-wiki%2F’; var bz_num_comments=0; var bz_comment_date=”; var bz_bgcolor=’fff’; Comments (0) [...]
