Without a doubt the most valuable commodity in affiliate marketing (or life really) is time. What you choose to spend your limited time doing can have a huge impact on how successful you are. There are only so many hours in a day that we are actually working and productive so its important to maximize that time. So I have gotten in the habit of thinking of activities that I choose to do or not do in terms a something I call ROI/H.
ROI/H = Return on investment per hour
By thinking this way, it allows me to focus my energy on things that are important for building the business and less on things that aren’t worth my time.
Here are some examples for me:
- I can program, but I am very slow and inefficient. For me programming is a low ROI/H. (outsource)
- I find Social networks are generally hit or miss. I think of working on social campaigns as low/medium ROI/H.
- Building PPC campaigns is super profitable for the time invested. That is a high ROI/H activity.
When I started thinking of the tasks I do this way, my profitability really went up. Once you realize where your time is best spent, you can leverage your strengths.

pronounced … “Royf”
I like this approach!
But shouldn’t it be “ROI/H” or “ROIPH”? Otherwise it would spell out to “Return on investment per per hour”
Ya, your right - I just changed it. Thanks!
Yeah, staying focused is my main goal right now. There are so many ways to be pulled off track. “Prioritize and proceed!”
Chad, any chance we can convince you to share your personal average monthly ROI/H?
Mike, it doesn’t really matter what mine is. YOURS is important to you.
I believe he’s private concerning particular numbers.
So true, nice post
Hi Chad,
Who do you use for programming? I have been tryng to find a reasonably priced and reliable programmer for a while now. Thanks. Yours is one of the best blogs on the field.

Nicely put. My main headaches now are business organization (bookkeeping) and LP design. I’m finally gonna release the reigns and outsource as much of this as possible so I can focus on the PPC side of the business.
